For the month of love, the Valentino is the perfect choice for our Cocktail of the Month. As its name suggests—and your taste buds will confirm—this cocktail evokes passion, romance, and sophistication.

Glassware & Equipment

Martini (175ml), cocktail shaker and strainer

Ingredients

  • For The Drink – makes 1 serving
  • 60ml (2 parts) Original or navy Strength Gin
  • 15ml (1/2 part) Campari
  • 15ml (1/2 part) Sweet Vermouth
  • Ice 2 handfuls enough to half fill the shaker
  • Garnish

  • For the romantics, garnish with washed rose petals or buds for an elegant touch. Alternatively, a lemon twist adds a zesty contrast to the cocktail’s smooth sophistication.

Step 1 - Mix

Place ice into the shaker the bottom cup should be half full of ice.

Add 60ml of our gin, 15ml Campari & 15ml Sweet Vermouth to the shaker.

Step 2 - Shake & Serve

Secure the shaker and shake vigorously until the exterior feels ice-cold to the touch.

Gently crack open the shaker and strain the cocktail into the glass using a Hawthorne strainer (the one with the coiled spring).

Garnish & Tips

Garnish the cocktail for the romantic amongst you a pre washed rose bud and petals or alternatively a lemon swirl

Tip
Shaking Tip: Hold the shaker with both hands—one on the base and one on the top—ensuring a firm grip. Shake with a controlled, vigorous motion to properly mix and chill the ingredients while incorporating just the right amount of dilution.

Why the Temperature Matters: The icy exterior of the shaker is a key indicator that the cocktail inside has reached optimal chill. Proper chilling not only enhances the flavors and texture but also ensures the right level of dilution, creating a well-balanced drink. Over-dilution can weaken the flavours, while under-chilling can result in a less refreshing experience.
